BABYLON: THE TOWER TO THE HEAVENS

In 2300 BCE, in the heart of Babylon, the most famous city from ancient Mesopotamia, King Hammurabi launched a colossal project: the construction of the Etemenanki ziggurat, a gigantic tower intended to link the world of men with that of the gods.

The monument, which took over 1,000 years to build, was a formidable feat of architecture and engineering: 90 meters wide by 90 meters high, with 7 floors topped by a temple with 6 chapels, and visible from dozens of kilometers away. A symbol of Babylon’s power, the Etemenanki inspired the biblical tale of the Tower of Babel. And likewise, it met a tragic fate.

Thanks to the insights of both archaeologists and historians, and with the help of AI-generated images and 3D modelling, we’ll attempt to unravel the secrets surrounding the tallest tower in all of Antiquity, built for the glory of a legendary megacity that was once the center of the world and the universe.
