SECULARISM AT SCHOOL

Two years after the murder of Samuel Paty, a French teacher who became a symbol, the teaching staff at a secondary school in France, is working to raise awareness of the need to respect secularism and live together.

We're in the middle of a crisis between the teaching staff and the pupils of 14 years old, following the increasing avoidance of swimming lessons and the growing use of medical certificates on religious grounds. Teachers and administrators are powerless and worried about the excesses and this lack of secularism.

The teachers, through outings to places of worship with their youngest pupils and discussions in class or within committees, are trying to provide answers, together with the members of the French council in charge of this issue, in the definition of secularism.
