POLARQUEST

During the summer of 2018, explorers and scientists board the sailboat Nanuq for the first time, bound for the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, in an attempt to locate the wreckage of Umberto Nobile's airship, which had crashed on the ice cap 90 years earlier.

Polarquest, like Nobile, is also a scientific expedition: from microplastics to cosmic rays and drone mapping, various experiments are carried out on board, throughout the expedition, with the aim of measuring the impact of global warming in the Arctic — a region which, contrary to appearances, is far from being spared by human activity.

The documentary, filmed on a boat designed for self-sufficient travel in the Arctic regions without non-renewable energies, tells the story of this expedition, providing breathtaking images of these lands close to the North Pole, where the polar bear is the absolute ruler.
