NICOLE GARCIA, ACTRICE-CINÉASTE

After starting out on the stage and a rich acting career working alongside some of France’s greatest directors (Tavernier, Verneuil, Resnais, Rivette, Blier, Lelouch...), the actress Nicole Garcia decided to move behind the camera.

In 1990, at the age of forty, the actress felt the powerful urge to tell stories of her own, and so began writing screenplays and directing. Over the course of her various films - starring actors like Marion Cotillard, Louis Garrel or Pierre Niney to name a few - Nicole Garcia built up an original cinematic universe and established herself as an accomplished filmmaker.

Gathering the words of those close to her and Nicole Garcia herself, this film retraces the double trajectory of this singular, polymorphous artist.
