Alternately a model, actress, film producer, cook, columnist, director, singer and writer, Macha Méril recounts her extraordinary life story.
Born into a Russian princely family that fled the October Revolution, Macha Méril (real name Maria Magdalena Vladimirovna Gagarina) was discovered by the French New Wave in the 1960s. Throughout her career, she has worked alongside the greatest – including Godard, Pialat, Buñuel, Duras and Pasolini. Restlessly curious, she moved from one artistic pursuit to another, forever seeking for knowledge – through her talents, roles or writings.
In this intimate documentary, enriched by her personal archives, Macha looks back on camera at her turbulent career, her romantic life, her feminist struggles, and her great love with Michel Legrand.
