Although she became an actress by chance and intuition, Isabelle Huppert is now considered one of the greatest of her generation, as iconic as enigmatic. She looks back at her extraordinary career in cinema, which spans more than 130 films.
Often known for her portrayals of imperturbable, elusive women, the French actress has displayed an extremely rich and complex range of acting skills over the course of a half-century career. She has broken with convention, endowed experimental roles and collaborated alongside some of the world’s best filmmakers, such as Jean-Luc Godard, Michael Haneke, Paul Verhoeven, Claire Denis, Mia Hansen-Løve, Michael Cimino or Hong Sang-Soo - to name but a few. Each of her roles, she says, is an opportunity to reveal a hidden part of herself.
In this intimate documentary narrated by the actress herself, Huppert looks back on her 50-year trajectory on screen and share her own vision of cinema, through a selection of movie clips, interviews and personal archives.
