The harpy eagle is one of the largest and most powerful raptors in the South American rainforest. This majestic species plays a key role in maintaining the balance of an entire ecosystem by regulating its prey population. Today, its protection has become a major challenge, as humans – its only predator – have devastated its habitat.
Christine Morrier, a renowned zoologist, travels to Ecuador to meet Ruth Muñiz, a leading specialist in birds of prey. United by the same hope of observing this elusive bird of prey up close, and alerted by activity detected in a monitored nest, the two women set out on an expedition into the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
Alongside them, we follow the trail of the enigmatic harpy eagle, discovering an environment that is both rich and fragile. Along the way, we will meet the communities working to protect this species – a true living symbol of the forest and the wild.
