Deeply rooted in our collective imagination, sea turtles are among the oldest species on Earth. They may feel familiar to us, yet much of their world remains unknown.
Where do they live? How do they travel across oceans? What secrets lie within their ancient life cycles? And how do they survive today in an ocean increasingly fragmented by human activity? In New Caledonia – one of the Pacific’s most important nesting site – scientific teams set out to follow in the wake of these great travelers. Thanks to an extensive satellite-tracking program, researchers reveal – for the first time on such a scale – the sea turtles’ migratory routes, feeding grounds, and critical habitats.
Through fieldworks and the data collected on the way, the film takes us deep into the life cycle of these emblematic animals, while shedding light on the threats they now face. A scientific and visual journey that shows how knowledge itself can be a powerful tool for conservation.
