On September 9, 2001, Afghan commander Ahmad Shah Massoud was assassinated by Al-Qaeda, on Bin Laden’s order. Today, his son Ahmad carries on the fight against the Taliban in the remote Panjshir Valley.
Through exclusive access, firsthand testimonies – primarily that of Massoud’s son – and archival footage, this film tells the story of how father and son dedicated their lives to upholding justice and pursuing freedom in Afghanistan. Seen through Ahmad’s eyes, we trace back the journey of the legendary Commander Massoud, from the Pashtun mountains to the corridors of international institutions. A life that also tells the story of a people, and that pulls back the curtain on the Cold War’s final chapter and the birth of international terrorism.
At a time when the Taliban regime holds power in Afghanistan, this film brings light to the story of a man who became a symbol of resistance – one whose legacy resonates today more powerfully than ever.
