KAW: SMALL VILLAGE, BIG RESERVE

At the heart of French Guiana lies the village of Kaw, accessible only by boat, in a region of rare, but threatened flora and fauna.

In order to preserve the natural heritage surrounding this village of fifty inhabitants, a national natural reserve was created twenty years ago. Today, life in the village is marked by the constraints and advantages of its proximity to the reserve, which has become French Guiana's leading natural tourist destination.

Meet the inhabitants of the village of Kaw, who share their experiences of the impact that proximity to the nature reserve has had on their daily lives.
