CLAUDIA, GINA, AND SOPHIA: THREE BEAUTIES OF CINECITTA

Gina Lollobridgida, Sophia Loren and Claudia Cardinale. All three would become international stars, key figures in the history of cinema. And each would similarly shake up the cinematic codes of the time.

At a time when Anna Magnani was a dominant figure in neorealist cinema, often portraying tragic characters – the plebeian heroines she played with remarkable intensity and talent –, Gina, Sophia and Claudia would each embody a new form of femininity on screen. One that combines beauty, sensuality, humor, authenticity and emotion.
