Midnight Oil: 1984 90' by Ray Argall
1984: Midnight Oil released their iconic record Red Sails in the Sunset, and became Australia’s most emblematic rock and roll band. That same year the lead singer Peter Garrett decided to run for Senate for the Nuclear Disarmament Party.
While Peter Garrett had been a spokesman for environmental and social issues since the beginning of his career, the pressure of performing on both the live stage and the political stage took its toll on the musicians.
Using never before seen footage of the band as they tour - from electrifying concerts to political commitments - this film tells how a group of awesomely talented musicians with a powerful and ambitious message were able to inspire a generation to try and change the world.
