A rocker with a unique voice and tens of millions of records sold, Neil Young has always transformed his rage into creation, making his music a constant battle - whether political, environmental or pacifist.
In the mid-1960s, Neil Young left his homeland, Canada, for the heart of the music industry: Los Angeles. With the bands Buffalo Springfield and then Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, he gave the rebellious youth anthems to rally against the Vietnam War and police violence, before pursuing a solo career. Retired to his Californian ranch “Broken Arrow”, the “Loner” remained attuned to the world. From manifesto albums to charity events, Neil Young has never stopped expressing his anger through his art, railing against the war in Iraq, Monsanto, environmental collapse, the administrations of George W. Bush or Donald Trump, etc.
Through rich archives, this documentary paints a portrait of a rebellious musician, without glossing over his ideological contradictions, such as his support for nuclear power and Reagan’s military policy. A road movie with a timeless soundtrack that also tells a chapter in the history of American music.
