The drinking water crisis in France is reaching unprecedented proportions: A historic drought, a dry winter and a summer of 2023 marked by shortages. But beyond the problems of water restrictions, water pollution remains a serious threat to our health.
The documentary reveals an alarming situation concerning massive water wastage and the quality of our water: the less water there is in the water tables, the more pollutants are concentrated there, and the health authorities' controls are infrequent and incomplete.
Over the course of a year, we followed and interviewed elected officials, revealing the obsolescence of the water supply network, parents whose children had fallen victim to cancer as a result of contaminated water caused by increasingly intensive farming, and farmers suffering from water shortages, who put forward the solution of mega-basins, giant artificial reservoirs.
