HOMS - SYRIA, LIFE AFTER

After twelve years of exile, Syrian journalist and filmmaker Daham Alasaad returns to Homs, a city devastated by the war in Syria. Once his childhood hometown, it is now the remnant of an authoritarian regime, where different communities (Sunnis, Christians, Alawites) are trying to live together again after years of brutal divisions and destruction.

Thanks to Daham Alasaad’s close relationship with the city’s residents, the filmmaker sheds light on deeply moving individuals, torn between grief, fear, a need for justice, and a desire for calm and reconciliation. By opening up naturally to the camera, they allow viewers to experience what Syrians are living through today in all their diversity.

Homs - Syria, Life After is a personal and political investigation into this symbolic city’s ability to rebuild hope amid the ruins of a Syria scarred by more than fifteen years of war and facing an uncertain future.
