FIRST YEAR OUT

Norbert, Raphaël and Yemine are released from prison, having served sentences ranging from 2 to 30 years. They share their thoughts on the challenges of this new life, and its psychological and relational implications.

The three men are trying to find their place in society, into which they are thrown overnight, with varying levels of support for their integration. But between family breakdowns and rehabilitation difficulties, regaining their independence and avoiding recidivism is difficult. The image they had of themselves in prison no longer exists on the outside, and they must build a new version of themselves. Can they learn to be free again?

In the form of a diary, the filmmaker follows these three men, whose projects clash with a social and emotional reality, and evolve over the course of their time outside prison.
