FACES OF WAR, REPAIRING THE WOUNDS

On the surface, a hospital like any other. But only on the surface. At the Vynnyky medical center, on the outskirts of Lviv, Ukraine, the focus is exclusively on the wounded of war: amputees and the disfigured. A place where physical and psychological reconstruction meets collective resilience.

Following a recent international agreement, surgeons specializing in facial reconstruction are called in to treat those who have lost their faces in combat. This team, led by Professor Chloé Bertolus, one of Europe's leading specialists in the field, travels there several times a year to repair flesh damaged by bullets and shrapnel from the Russian army.

The film bears witness to their medical expertise, their personal commitment, and the bonds they form with local staff and the wounded.
