Between 1960 and 1970, dozens of Normans turned their cameras on their everyday lives. This extraordinary collection of intimate archives offers a first-hand account of a tumultuous decade and of a society with conflicting ideals.
The early 1960s find France riding a wave of optimism – a time of growth, modernization, and consumerism. Yet beneath the surface harmony and newfound prosperity, deep fault lines are forming. The spring of 1968 will soon crystallize a rupture, unleashing causes and voices that had long gone unheard – the hippie movement, workers’ strikes, student protests and the fight for women’s rights.
Based exclusively on these dozens of hours of exceptional footage, this documentary tells the personal and collective story of a generation in the throes of change, torn between respect for tradition and the quest for emancipation.
