The Secret Life of Mangroves

Mangroves are among the oldest and most productive wetland forests on our planet. Known as “hotspots of biodiversity”, they have uniquely adapted to survive highly saline conditions, and offer precious benefits to both humans and animals. But rising sea levels, climate change and the resultant increase in salinity, combined with over-exploitation all today pose a threat for these fragile ecosystems.

Alongside those who live there and protect these tidal forests, this series showcases the fascinating web of life that surrounds them. From Vietnam to Senegal through Madagascar, it reveals these complex and little-known biomes, to get a better understanding of their significant role.
