Both the portrait of a man and a people, it reveals the truth behind the final conflict in the Cold War and the birth of the Taliban, Al Qaeda and international terrorism. Nicolas Jallot tells the story of Ahmad Shah Massoud and Afghanistan seen through the eyes of Massoud's son, Ahmad, and those close to Massoud. He also draws on accounts from Massoud's friends, the views of eyewitnesses, and the personal memories of three photographers who spent time with Massoud, including Raymond Depardon, who was the first to photograph Massoud before he even took on the name Massoud and became well-known. It is a little-known encounter that brings us previously unseen images, the story of a totally unparalleled path, and uncovers forty years of History.
