Diary of an IVF (In Vitro Fertilization)

I am 40 years old, and had been trying unsuccessfully to have a baby with my partner Rodolphe. After many months, we entered the tunnel of medically assisted reproduction, accompanied by Professor René Frydman, the pioneer of in vitro fertilization in France. I was determined to have him as my doctor, since I knew he was the best.

I could never have imagined that one day, I would have to undergo the scientific protocol of ART – assisted reproductive technology - to achieve something as natural as having a baby. Rodolphe had to find his place in this process. He decided to film our journey with his mobile phone, and he got right to the heart of the action, where no other camera had been before.

Diary of an IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is the story of how we wanted to bring forth a new life. It’s also the story of the medical family which went to work to help us construct our own family and pull off this magnificent challenge. Diary of an IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is the journey of one couple’s struggle, seen from an original viewpoint, in which the account of events and the images from the phone are interwoven with reconstitutions, Super-8 footage and animation.
