At the Nursing School

Each year, more than 30,000 young graduates join the various nursing training institutes, the IFSI, for a duration of three years. Despite the difficulties that the hospital world is going through and the promise of a relatively low salary, this career continues to attract applicants. And especially female applicants: at school, there is one boy for every seven girls.

This documentary series invites us to follow the daily life of six men and women during their first year of studies at the Marcel-Rivière school in the Parisian suburbs. With their distinct motivations, they have in common that they have made the choice to dedicate themselves to the well-being and health of others.

From the discovery of their vocation to the care of the sick, we will witness these moments when these young people, still idealistic, will be confronted, often for the first time, with the fragility of their bodies, the nudity of stripped patients, death, and the emotional turmoil running through the gloomy hospital corridors. These stories provide an insight into life, but also a glimpse of what it means to "heal".
