Afghans to the top 52' HD

Synopsis

Afghanistan is today synonymous with conflict, terrorism and danger. Yet, before the war started, this country of Central Asia was famous for the beauty of its nature. As startling as it is, Mount Noshaq, the highest peak in Afghanistan rising at 7 492 meters, has never been climbed by an Afghan citizen.

In this documentary, four Afghan mountaineers attempt to do what none of their countrymen dreamt possible: to be the first Afghans to set foot on the top of Mount Noshaq. Their goal: to send a message of hope and peace to their war-torn country.

The director, who spent 7 years in Afghanistan, had to face a lot of difficulties setting up this expedition. Between financial, logistical, bureaucratic and political hurdles, preparation work lasted a full year. But the greatest danger is invisible. At very high altitude, hypoxia and hard weather conditions can lead to dangerous situations. Will they rise to the challenge ?

A crazy venture, in the breathtaking landscapes of the Afghanistan, at the convergence of the Himalayas.
